Bio

John Hanlon is a second-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt with a deep passion for coaching and over two decades of experience in martial arts. He has worked with a diverse range of students, from young children learning self-defense to law enforcement professionals, including police officers and SWAT members. His teaching emphasizes real-world applications, focusing on critical skills such as fighting off the floor, using walls to gain an advantage, and controlling an opponent without causing unnecessary harm.


John is also a decorated competitor, earning multiple black belt medals, including:


- 3x Tap Cancer Out Champion (1st Place)

- IBJJF New York Pro (2019) – Silver Medalist

- IBJJF No-Gi Pan Ams (2019) – Bronze Medalist


Beyond Jiu-Jitsu, John brings 18 years of experience as a personal trainer, specializing in sports development, strength training, and rehabilitation programs. His well-rounded approach to coaching blends technical precision with functional strength and conditioning, ensuring students of all levels develop both skill and resilience on and off the mats.


John is committed to helping students reach their full potential, whether they’re training for self-defense, competition, or overall fitness.
